The Fair Credit Reporting Foundation (FCRF) is a non-profit organization that educates consumers on how to improve their credit rating and ensure the accurate reporting of their credit history using the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
Over 77% of consumer credit reports issued by Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion have factual errors that negatively impact your credit rating. A low credit score hinders your ability to be approved for new or additional credit. We can help you find and correct those errors.
Be proactive and review your credit today. Get FREE copies of your credit reports from www.annualcreditreport.com

Did you know that your personal information is being sold on dark web bulletin boards? Criminals buy this data then use it to apply for credit in your name. You don't know this has happened until you are served with a lawsuit or wage garnishment order to pay the debt.
If you are a victim of identity theft, the Foundation's lawyers will help protect your consumer rights. Get help filing police reports. Learn how to deal with Equifax, Experian and Transunion to delete any unauthorized accounts and restore your credit. Contact idtheft@tfcrf.org for immediate assistance.

Bad credit can happen to anyone at any time. It's important to know your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). This law protects you from unscrupulous debt collectors who act threatening, aggressive, or disrespectful when seeking payment.
If you are receiving abusive treatment from a debt collector—whether they are calling, texting, emailing, or even suing you regarding a debt—it's important to notify the Foundation right away. Understanding your rights is a key part of financial education. Send your debt collector questions to the Foundation at collections@tfcrf.org

In extreme cases, some consumers file Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy to re-establish their credit. Even after the bankruptcy is discharged, studies show Equifax, Experian, and Transunion fail to accurately report this information more than 39% of the time. This jeopardizes consumer rights. Why? Because it may lead to denial of new credit due to the incorrect reporting.
If you received a bankruptcy discharge within the last 5 years, let our skilled bankruptcy paralegals conduct a detailed review of your Equifax, Experian and Transunion reports for accuracy. If they find errors, our lawyers might be able to recover cash damages on your behalf under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Write bkreview@tfcrf.org
